CENTRE Stage musical theatre group are treading the boards with their latest production Thoroughly Modern Millie.

They will be stepping out at Egglescliffe Community Centre from Monday until Saturday, July 4, in the musical based on the 1967 film which starred Julie Andrews.

Millie Dillmount, a Kansas small town girl who comes to New York City in search of a new life, delights in the flapper lifestyle and plans to meet and marry a wealthy man ... then she meets and falls in love with penniless paper clip salesman Jimmy. Her problems continue when she checks into a hotel owned by the leader of a white slavery ring in China.

:: MEANWHILE Broadway is coming to Teesside in a medley of musicals at Stockton’s Arc.

SUMMER LOVIN’, presented twice tomorrow by Teesside-based Theatre Farm, will feature songs from smash hit shows such as Les Miserables, Grease, Oklahoma! and Hairspray.

Theatre Farm has previously staged a number of successful pantomimes in the region and many members of the cast have played leading roles.

For the first time, the group will be taking the show on the road when they move the entire production up to Stanley, in County Durham, for a further performance on Sunday at 7pm.
