Bouchon Bistrot

Rate this venue:

Occupying handsome premises in the heart of Hexham, Bouchon Bistro is a recently opened restaurant already enjoying considerable success.

Serving simply cooked food in the French country style, this is the ideal place to enjoy a relaxed meal with family and friends.

The rustic, yet ambitious menu demonstrates the considerable talent of proprietor Greg Bureau, who learnt his trade at a number of Michelin-starred restraints in France, as well as from his family of restraints in the Loire Valley.

With head chef Nick Clough and his wife Clare, Greg has brought a little taste of France to the North East. And how lovely it is: starters and light bites such as French onion soup, moules mariniere and even escargots are all menu staples here, alongside main courses like pot au feu, beef bourguignon and seared blue tuna with nicoise salad.

While the menu has more than a touch of the wonderfully rustic rural France about it, the décor feels both in tune with its French provenance and modern British dining.

Period decorative features blend with a continental charm to make this the ideal place to unwind with a glass or two of red wine and a delicious dinner.
