The CharlatansTHE CHARLATANS are celebrating heading into their 20th anniversary of live performance with a Teesside show this week.

Frontman Tim Burgess joined the band just before the release of their debut single Indian Rope in 1990 on the band’s own Dead Dead Good Records label.

It proved an indie hit and the group soon found a major label, Beggars Banquet off-shoot Situation Two, in time for the release of The Only One I Know which reached the Top 10 in the UK singles chart.

Further single Then and debut album Some Friendly were released later that year to great commercial and critical acclaim.

Since then the band have released a slew of hit singles including Can’t Get Out Of Bed, Jesus Hairdo, One To Another, North Country Boy, Impossible, and Love Is The Key.

A year ago they released their tenth studio album which was titled You Cross My Path.

They were last seen in these parts in August headlining the Stockton Riverside Fringe Festival.

Expect a set of tunes from across their 20 years at their gig at the Empire in Middlesbrough next Thursday.
