ACCLAIMED blues guitarist Snowy White will play a gig at The Cluny in Newcastle this week.

Following a successful world tour of Pink Floyd’s Dark Side of the Moon with Roger Waters (with whom he has worked with since 1977), former Thin Lizzy member Snowy has been on a tuneful voyage of rediscovery when it comes to his blues roots.

Together with long-time collaborator Juan Van Emmerloot on drums; Matt Taylor on guitar and Ruud Weber Jnr on bass, he has created the eponymous Snowy White Blues Project and associated album, In Our Time of Living.

It is this line-up – in which all three front men share lead vocals – which will grace The Cluny on Thursday.

Meanwhile later in the month (February 20, to be exact), classic rock legends Nazareth will play Newcastle’s O2 Academy.

Formed in 1968, Nazareth sprung from the ashes of a semi-professional band, The Shadettes, and released their first album in 1971.

The band still features the gravelly voiced Dan McCafferty and bassist Pete Agnew alongside lead guitarist Jimmy Murrison and Lee Agnew.

Tickets for Snowy White Blues Project on February 11, and Nazareth on February 20 are available from the venue box offices on 0191 232 4474 (The Cluny) and 0844 477 2000 (02 Academy).
