TEESSIDE’S premier musical experiment OUR SECRET SINS are back on the live scene tomorrow.

The seven-piece play a mash up of styles with synths leading the moods and guitars giving the bite.

They will be taking to the stage at the Empire in Middlesbrough for the weekly Metropolis club night.

Evening Gazette Sounds’ man on the beat Robert Nichols said: “Our Secret Sins spread themselves across the stage - loads of guitars (three of them to be precise), yet still the bass lines had a real prominence.

“A synth player taking hold of the mood, the tempo quickened by the drummer, double trouble vocals and a sampler man to add extra colour and highlights. I’d like to see their tour bus!

“Some wonder-fuelled songs with so much instrumentation there is real depth, shade and colour - and power. Hold on to your hats as the music takes hold and takes off burning with the intensity of an Arcade Fire, the invention of Beta Band and with Beatlesque pop sense and sensibility.

“It’s fair to say that I liked them and those ripples of interest could soon turn into a tidal wave from Our Secret Sins.”

What more can you add to that? Save for what the group say of themselves on their website.

“Our Secret Sins are a musical experiment from Teesside. This is the place that we call home - with all of its faults, all of its virtues, all the highs and all the lows, its weaknesses fuel our strengths, and its strengths fuel our weaknesses.”

Joining them on the bill tomorrow night are BLACK MOUNTAIN POETS who only have a few gigs under their belt but have been described as “The Doors for 2010”.
