Newcastle tour date for Katherine Jenkins
Gordon Barr, Evening Chronicle
KATHERINE Jenkins, the world’s most successful classical crossover artist, has announced a major UK tour and will be returning to the Metro Radio Arena on March 6.
An internationally recognised figure, Katherine has spent the last few months in Los Angeles working on her first album with Warner Bros Records, which will be released this autumn.
It will see Katherine take a bold change of direction, working with producer David Foster, who has previously teamed up with Celine Dion, Michael Bublé, Whitney Houston, Barbra Streisand.
"It’s an opportunity that I couldn’t turn down," Katherine told the Chronicle.
"It was exciting and nerve-racking all at the same time as it was a change and a move. I still can’t believe this is happening."
Over the past six years, Katherine has defined the ever-popular ‘crossover’ genre.
With Marilyn Monroe- style glamour, she has the business savvy of an opera Madonna and the humility and compassion that have made her everyone’s favourite girl next door.
For this tour, Katherine will be joined by special guests, Escala.
Tickets go on sale on Friday at 9.30am online/phones and from 10am in person at the Metro Radio Arena box office.
