ONE of Newcastle’s most popular restaurants has a new look, new menu and new name.

Blue Coyote has been transformed into the Blue Coyote Mexican Cantina and Tequila Bar.

The new-look Blue Coyote pays homage to the Mexican identity of the original venue, which first opened almost seven years ago, but has more modern décor and wider food and drink offering.

Its main highlight is a new bar dedicated solely to the sale of tequila – the first of its kind in Newcastle city centre. The Tequila Bar, which works in conjunction with Blue Coyote’s general bar, will offer more than 60 different types of tequila by the bottle, glass or shot. Prices start from £2.50 per shot for the house tequila, up to £15 per shot for the super premium top-shelf brands.

There is also a new selection of tequila-based cocktails inspired by Blue Coyote’s sister venue, Popolo, including five varieties of Margarita, Long Island Iced Tea, Mexican Mojito and the devilish El  Diablo .

Blue Coyote’s food offering is also getting a makeover with a new menu expected to be introduced early in the New Year.

Nick Berg, group marketing manager for Principle Leisure North East, which owns Blue Coyote, said: “The changes implemented at Blue Coyote have all been designed to enhance the venue’s unique flavour and ensure there is something to keep visitors of all tastes entertained.

“We are confident that both new and regular visitors will enjoy the changes and look forward to bringing even more of Mexico to the North East.”
