With a history as long as The Tyne, the block of buildings, where the suitably named public houses 'Red House', 'Bob Trollops' and 'Offshore', has dominated the famous Sandhill on the Quayside since the 16th Century.
The main part of the building was given the name 'Red House' for the colour of its walls, now the ground level bar lends that name exclusively with Bob Trollops next door, named after the architect of the imposing guildhall directly opposite.
Offshore, so appropriately nauttically named after it was built and decorated using reclaimed ships.
The interiors are delicately designed to maintain the authentic historical importance of the building that ends at 'Betty Surtees House', who infamously eloped with John Scott in 1772.
These Quayside relicsprovide a comfortable and enjoyable place to drink and eat in peace, with 'Red House' providing good quality pub food, 'Bobs' giving award winning vegetarian alternatives in the unique and historically embellished surroundings.
When the party's in fulkl swing at Offshore, don't be surprised to see paranormal goings on with ghosts joining the fun.
Being a premises so steeped in history, it's not surprising that it is home to a few ghosts. We are part of the Ghost Hunt Newcastle and often host clirvoyant exhibitions.
It is believe we house two resident ghosts and staff will be able to tell of their own experiences of unexplained events from broken glasses to miscellaneous footsteps.
So whether you're on a ghost hunt or looking for high quality food in a comfortable, unique enjoyable atmosphere, it's all here on The Quayside.
But if you're gonna come after dark, make sure you're ready to party hard!
